HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUSNIC!
Five years ago, on September 23, 2015, LusNIC - Portuguese Language ccTLD's Association was born, resulting from a common desire and common needs of the competent entities for the management of the top-level domains of Portuguese speaking countries: o. pt, from Portugal, .br, from Brazil, .cv, from Cape Verde, .gw, from Guinea-Bissau, .st., from São Tomé and Príncipe and the .ao, from Angola.

Assuming the Portuguese language the 5th place in the ranking of the most used languages in the internet and registering more than two hundred million speakers worldwide, over the last 5 years the registries of Portuguese-speaking countries have joined efforts and intentions to promote and collaborate in the defense of the interests of Portuguese-speaking ccTLDs and in the use of Portuguese language and content in the internet, cooperating and sharing knowledge in their areas of intervention, developing contacts and cooperation initiatives among themselves and with other organizations and creating circuits of collaboration of multisectoral interest.

And similar to the "votes” taken 5 years ago, at the Lisbon Congress Center when LusNIC was formally constituted, members continue to recognize its relevance as a vehicle for reinforcing the "virtual presence” of the Portuguese language and as a "full demonstration of cooperation between sister communities”.

We also see several achievements for the next handful of years ahead, we intend to intensify the dissemination of the existence of LusNIC and its objectives, to build partnerships with similar entities, to be a core aggregator of information and data relevant to the ccTLD's community, but just as or more important, we intend to reflect, discuss, think and jointly implement strategies of common interest.

Today, LusNIC is to be congratulated and, therefore, today reaffirms its intention of, with the commitment of all its associates, remaining committed to fostering and projecting "the language of literature, cinema, heritage, science, innovation, pedagogy, solidarity, seas and oceans1 as a "language of global communication2, inclusive and mobilizing knowledge, without neglecting the defense of the interests of its members, the dissemination of their common points of view and the promotion of growth of the .pt, .br, .cv, .gw, .st and .ao top-level domains.
