3 reasons to register more than one domain name
If you already have a registered domain name, probably your first thought, when reading the title, is that a domain name is enough and that registering more domains will only increase your company's annual costs, right?
I will show you that, in certain situations, you are making a mistake in doing so.

Why should you register more than one domain name?

There are several factors that lead to the decision to register more than one domain name. Please check if any of the following apply to your business:

1. Spelling mistakes
If your business name is difficult to pronounce or write, your potential customers may be mistaken when typing your domain name and end up on the wrong website.

An example of a domain name that is difficult to type is Google. So, when we search for googel.com, gogle.com or gooogle.com, we are driven to the Google.com website.
This measure is essential to prevent users from being sent to a non-existent page or, even worse, to a competitor's page.

Tip: To find out if there are incorrect searches for your company name, use Google Search Console. This free tool from Google allows you to check users' search queries to find your site, making it easier to control which search terms, if any, are derived from misspellings.

If you find that there is a term with recurring spelling errors, directly related to your domain name, consider registering that domain name and forwarding it to your primary domain name.

2. Rebranding
If your business has changed its name, it is important not to let the old domain name expire and to properly target the new domain name.

It is possible to use your website in the new domain name and configure the old name to forward to the current one.

3. Promotional Campaigns
Using a domain name exclusively for a promotional campaign is a great way to tailor content specifically to your target audience. In addition, it allows you to test new ideas, messages different from the usual corporate tone and it becomes easier to monitor the results of your campaign.

If you are thinking of running a new campaign, online course or event where the audience is unique or distinct from the main target audience, it makes sense to register a new domain name pointing to a new landing page.

To do so, you only need to register the domain related to your event/campaign and, then, create a specific landing page for it.

Protect your brand

Your domain represents your brand in the digital world and, in certain situations, investing in multiple domain names will protect your brand. Most .pt registrars allow you to forward multiple domains to just one website.
