.pt ended the first half of 2021 with a total of 53,754 new registrations, 5,177 more than in the same period of 2020, which represents a growth of around 11%.

Between February and March, two months marked by a second confinement, there were more than 20 thousand new registrations under .pt, which corresponds to an increase of over 60% compared to the same period of the previous year. The month of February was the one with the highest growth compared to the previous year (34.38%) and March the one with the highest number of new domains (10,341).

Se aos registos diretos se adicionarem os registos via Empresa na Hora, o valor total apurado no primeiro semestre ultrapassa os 73 mil, mais 5.699 do que em igual período de 2020.
If direct registrations are added to registrations via "On the Spot Firm”, the total amount calculated in the first half of the year exceeds 73 thousand, 5,699 more than in the same period of 2020.

The .pt growth reflects the involvement of the Portuguese people in the national process of digital transformation. "If in the first confinement we had already seen a significant increase in registrations, in this second the reinforcement of the Portuguese presence on the internet intensified again, particularly in February and March. There was a clear need by the companies to digitalize their businesses and face the damage caused by the pandemic”, says Luisa Ribeiro Lopes, Chairman of the .PT Board of Directors.

"This growing trend in the number of registrations confirms that citizens and businesses are on the right path to digital transformation. The ease with which they adapted to this new reality is a good indicator that our structures react positively to the challenges caused by crises and that digitalization will be a key ally for the country's economic recovery and competitiveness. At a time when the world and the needs of companies are changing, .PT intends to continue to play an active role and reinforce its contribution to the digital transition, but, above all, to a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone feels that they have access to the same opportunities”, concludes Luisa Ribeiro Lopes.

.pt is among the three top European domains that grew the most in 2020, with a growth of 11%, according to the Global TLD Report, released by the Council of European National Top-Level Domain Registries (CENTR).
