.PT and Red.es establish partnership

.PT and Red.es have signed a collaboration protocol in which both entities undertake to host DNS servers on their facilities, in a reciprocal way. Both entities operate an infrastructure network composed of several DNS servers, to guarantee the resolution of domains in .pt and .es.
Considering the extreme importance of the Internet in various sectors of society, making it an essential resource around the world, it is necessary to establish measures to increase the redundancy and geographical distribution of the DNS, to guarantee its security and to avoid that it can be compromised by denial of service attacks.
In this context, .PT and Red.es intend to cooperate in order to strengthen the resilience of .pt and .es DNS services by installing DNS name servers in their network infrastructures and using Anycast technology and routing policies in order to strengthen the resilience of the Internet in Portugal and Spain.
